Hamr is a curling team app run by (, sole proprietor) in . This page says what Hamr keeps, who can see it, and how to have it removed. Questions go to .
The short version
- Hamr has no accounts, no passwords and no ads. It does not sell or share your information for marketing.
- A team's information is seen by that team: its players and its coaches.
- Journals and check-ins are optional. You can skip any question.
- You can ask for your information to be shown to you, corrected or deleted at any time.
What Hamr keeps
- The team. The team's name, and for each person the name typed in, whether they play or coach, their position and throwing hand.
- Curling. Practices, drills, games and shots, the season plan, goals, homework, competition schedules and notes the team writes.
- Journals and check-ins. If you fill them in: hours of sleep, energy, mental freshness, training done that day, habits, and the answers before and after a game such as focus, confidence, mood and a few words. This is wellness information and Hamr treats it as sensitive.
- Files. Files and photos a team uploads. Video clips stay on the phone that recorded them.
- Notifications. If you turn them on, the address your phone gives for sending you a notification.
- Use of the app. A daily count of which screens each person opens. It records that a screen was opened, never what was on it.
- Who runs a team. If the person who makes a team gives an email, it is kept so Hamr can reach them about that team. Teammates do not see it. Hamr emails that address, or the waitlist address the team's start key was sent to, about the team only: a welcome, one reminder on day three if nobody else has joined or nothing is logged, and the free month's reminders. Players are never emailed.
- Payments. The season pass is paid through Stripe. Stripe takes the card details; Hamr never sees them. Hamr keeps which team paid, the amount, the date and the email given at checkout.
- Visits to the website. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views on hamrcurling.ca, the app included: which page, the browser and the country. It uses no cookies and does not identify you. Hamr also counts page visits and demo opens per day, and which link they came from, with no personal information.
- The waitlist. Your email and, if you give them, your role, team and province, with the date and the words you agreed to.
Hamr does not ask for a birth date, a home address, a phone number or payment details, and does not track your location.
Who can see it
- Your team. Everyone on a team shares the team's practices, games, plans and files. Coaches can read their players' journals, check-ins, goals and plans. A copy of the team's information is stored on each team member's phone so the app works with no signal.
- The invite code. A team's link or six-character code is the key to that team. Anyone who has it can read and change the team's information, so keep it in the team chat. A fresh code can be made in Settings at any time, which shuts the old one off.
- Uploaded files. A file is reachable by anyone who has its exact link. The links are long and not listed anywhere, but do not upload anything you would not want passed on.
- Hamr. can access stored information to keep the service running and to answer a request from you.
- Companies that run the service. Supabase stores the database and files, Cloudflare delivers the app, Resend delivers Hamr's emails, Stripe takes payments, and Apple, Google or Mozilla deliver notifications to your phone. They process information for Hamr and may store or handle it outside Canada.
Young players
- Hamr is for players aged 13 and older, and their coaches and parents.
- A player under 13 (under 14 in Quebec) may only be put on a team with a parent or guardian's permission. The person who makes the team is responsible for having it.
- A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their child's information by writing to .
Your choices
- See, correct or delete. Write to with your team's name and your name on it. Because there are no accounts, Hamr confirms a request with the team's coach or the person who made the team before acting on it. Requests are answered within 30 days.
- Leave a team. A coach can take a person off the roster. What that person logged stays in the team's history unless deletion is asked for.
- Stop the emails. Every Hamr email has an unsubscribe link. A team's emails stop the moment it is pressed; the waitlist's are honoured within 10 business days.
How long it is kept
- A team's information is kept while the team uses Hamr. It is deleted when the team asks, and a team that has not opened the app for 24 months may be removed.
- Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or until 12 months after Hamr opens to the public.
Keeping it safe
Information travels encrypted. The database accepts nothing without a team's secret code, and no team can read another team's rows. If information is ever exposed in a way that could cause real harm, the people affected and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada will be told as soon as possible.
Complaints
Write to first. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, teams are told in the app before the change takes effect.
